Day 16 – Celebrity Itself Is A Drug (Blackout Poem)

By on June 1, 2017

[Blackout poem crafted from a “10 Questions” TIME interview with Robin Williams. Published 8-25-14.]

Celebrity itself is a drug,
addiction the price of fame.

It’s good for business to say
that they get you high.

They expect you to be crazy.
The id is always
Glaargarg – you wanna do thaaaat.
But I hope not to.

Standup is how comedians process
things that are painful.
That’s what keeps them going.
That’s what keeps them alive.
